If it were 1979 again, what car would you be driving?

In 1979, I wasn't in America, and I was driving my g/f's NSU Prinz. 😛

Btw, Felix Wankel invented the rotary engine in the 1950's @ NSU.

Piston engine goes boing, boing, boing, but the Wankel goes Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Ive seen that car before in books but I didnt know what it was called (NSU). Isnt a rotary in the Mazda RX7? I had a couple of 280z's and they were my arch enemy back in 80s. Anytime you pulled up to one, you had to race.

Mazda licensed the technology from NSU. VW owns them now, and Mazda probably still pays them a royalty.

This is the first wankel powered production car in the world, though their RO 80 is much better known.

American Muscle Cars lost their muscle after 1971 because of increased air pollution controls imposed by the feds.

I think, if it were 1979 again...I'd still have the 69 Barracuda/340 and 76 Dodge Power Wagon/440 I had the last time it was 1979...

If I had the chance to do it over again I don't think I would change a thing, I drove a 69 Chevelle SS in 1977. My only regret was I sold it a couple of years later🙁

Can I drive ANY car? If so I would have driven a GT40. Hell, I'd love to drive one today.

For the sake of discussion, say you were born and old enough to drive in 1979. What would you be driving?

Me? Definitely a muscle car (Chevelle SS, Camaro SS, GTO, Mustang GT).

I'd be rockin a 67 Camaro SS in black with a 454 big block or a 69 El Camino SS with the 454 as well.
