if it was proven that aliens do exist, does that invalidate people's belief in 'God'?

I don't care what they believe in, as long as they don't try to enforce their beliefs on me. Same goes for humans.
Trust me they feel the same way about you. There's nothing quite more ironic than rabid, spouting atheists crying about proselytizing religious people.

edit: and vice versa

Where are people getting the idea that Christians don't beleive in dinosours?

You obviously don't live in a Red State.

Red States like Georgia, Alabama etc don't believe in Science and Evolution and have actually banned Evolution from being taught.

No Science, No Dinos.

There is only Creationism.

You know... if I told as many blatant lies as you do, I'd have trouble sleeping at night.

Don't you realize that your chicken little tripe is so obvious that you only invalidate your own argument?

Er, right. So... um.. what is your point again?

I am a very strict atheist, however, that woundn't prove the inexistance of god, so I don't think it would invalidate it at all. It is 100% based on faith. No logic or reason could invalidate that.

Of course it wouldn't. Religious people, especially those of the cloth, are the kings and queens of spin. They could and would immediately come up with all kinds of scenarios to explain how aliens and God are not mutually exclusive that could neither be proved nor disproved......Hell, they have been practising this art for millenia so I doubt the appearance of Aliens would even cause most to skip a beat.

I'm a conservative Christian.

The existance of aliens wouldn't affect my faith at all - not even in the aspect of believing most of the Bible to be literal (including Genesis). Just because something's not in the Bible doesn't mean it doesn't exist/didn't happen.

So all you saying that IF aliens happened, Christians would FIND a way to work it into their beliefs, please take note that PRIOR to it happening, there are those of us who don't think it would be any contradiction to what we believe.

I do not think that the existance of aliens would disprove anything. The bible says that man was made in God's image. Only humans are assuming that means something physical. Maybe God's image means being sentient, or capable of choice and reasoning.

As a once professed athiest (now agnostic) I recognise that belief in logic and reasoning and science and God do not have to be mutually exclusive. God can never be disproven. Just as the origins of the universe without a God can never be proven.

no, life on other planets would not even come close to invalidating God. he created everything, so it is well within reason that he created them. finding life on mars would be great! but it does nothing to disprove God.
