If I'm on a PII-450 which is better - a V3 2K OC'd to 192MHz or a Matrox G450 SDR?

Currently I'm using a V3 2K OC'd to 192MHz, and it's pretty nice. I'm using a PCI Matrox Millennium as my second output, and I recently had a G450 come accross my desk, and I'm wondering if it would be as good/nearly as good as the V3 on my computer? I'd like to free the PCI slot taken up by the current Millennium since the G450 has DualHead.

Since 2D is fine on the V3, and Matrox is supposed to have good 2D, I'm only concerned with the G450's 3D performance.

Mostly the games I play are Counter-Strike, Q3, Unreal, Diablo II, a few flight sims, and such.

I read the reviews by Anand and it seems the G450 is slower than a V3 in most cases, but they were tested on a PIII 550, so I'm wondering if they performance difference will be there in my processor-limited case.

Oh yeah, I run in Win2K, so a Matrox's drivers good there?

Thanks.

you must be joking. i don't need a G450 to know how bad it must be. look carefully around at the reviews, there are lots. a G450 DDR (64bit) is not even as fast as a G400 in some situations, so what do you expect out of the SDR! get real, it is for business cruds who use Excel.
if you care enough to overclock your voodoo the G450 will be a dumb mistake for games.

I have the G450 and my old TNT2 non-ultra blows it away in 3D performance and compatibility with games. I've grown out of games (unfortunately), so it's not a problem. More concerned with the crisp images at 1600x1200.

Another vote for the Voodoo 3. The G450 is seriously underpowered for 3D games so you can forget about large textures and 32 bit colour.

Well, with the voodoo3 he already has forgotten about large textures and 32-bit color. :)

If it were a G450 DDR, I'd take it. I had the G400 Dualhead and it was an awesome card. It could play quake3 just fine.

I borrowed a G450 32MB DDR from a friend and got roughly 1940 in 3dmark2K while I got 500 points more with my Voodoo3 3000 AGP. Somehow when I switched my V3 3K with the Matrox...my processor went up 16 MHz. Too bad the card sucks in 3D.

BTW, my system is running a PIII 450 with 128MB RAM.
