The problem with your logic is that you're assuming people are thinking of the same clock hours as you are. Maybe you're thinking day one to day two was between nine o'clock AM and 25 hours later, ten o'clock AM. As shown in the thread, someone else may be thinking of 'between' at 11:59PM and 12:00AM.

Only literal ninnies would think in terms of minutes when the reference period is given in days.

Without a definite time within a day, the question assumes your talking about the entire day itself, as in, the entire 24 hour block that corresponds to a "day".
Then the question becomes "How many days are between the 24 block of day 1 and 24 hour block of day 2?", the answer of which is 0.

2 is unacceptable because you're comparing unlike terms. If you start at midnight on the first, you have to finish at midnight on the second. Even saying one is acceptable isn't correct, because you're forcing hourly measure, while setting it up as a day graduation.
