If I was only a student for part of the year in 2004, can I file as a student?

Was only a student for the first two months of the year, can I file as a student or part-student or anything like that?

Asked and answered in the sticky tax thread.

Be a little more specific if you can.

I just took a couple of classes last year, and just filed a regular 1040 if I recall correctly. I was able to deduct the cost of my classes, I didn't have to specifically file as a student.

Was a fulltime student for the first two months of the year, graduated in Feb.

I think you can deduct any tuition as long as it was paid in 2004. I just remember doing a search on the IRS website and finding a document regarding the deduction of college costs that answered my questions.

Post in CPA's thread for more more specific help.

I don't think the IRS gives a rat's patoot if you were a student or not. All they look at is your net income.
