If I was a teacher/lecturer, I would totally write 'EPIC FAIL!!!' in big red letters on assignments that didn't pass

Yeah, thats how it works. It so you can distinguish the kids who take advanced classes and the kids who 4.0s taking the easy normal classes.

At the school where I teach, there are two parts to the final class grade: academic and citizenship. Most of the time citizenship is a non issue, but when you combine the two, you can get some interesting grades headed home to parents.
Academic grades (very standard)
A=Excellent
B=Very good
C=Average
D=Below average
F=Fail

Citizenship
O=Outstanding
S=Satisfactory
N=Needs improvement
U=Unsatisfactory

I realized the combination factor one day as I was reviewing my students grades and saw that I had given one of my students, an epic fail if every there was one, the grade of "F U." I started to feel badly about saying "F U" to this student and his parents, until I decided that it was what the student had earned and it was really how I felt.

To this day, I can still give the grade of "F U" along with other fun ones like "B S" and "B O."
