And a job application asks for a GPA should I only include the 4-year GPA? Is it wrong to "average" the two?

My 4-year GPA sucks =/

Average the two if you want...but if they request a copy of your transcripts, you are hosed.

Officially, overall GPA is your overall average of all undergraduate college level courses you've ever taken from any accredited institution. Major GPA would be the GPA of all department level required courses for your major. Also, last 2-year GPA can be used which indicates your GPA for the last 2 years of your degree program. So basically, you can twist GPA to fit your needs. But if your GPA is really bad it's always best just not to mention it.

The advice i got from advisor's, professors, and at job fairs is to pick the highest one of either last school attended, last 60ish hours, major GPA, or overall. Rounding up is good too.

Yes, its always good to keep expectations high, so at least they will notice you.

The 4 year I transferred to didn't even transfer the grades from my classes, only the credits (for the ones I passed). :)

they should only transfer credits... and if you were in a community college then you probably only took general education classes which arent very important .

just ignore your community college GPA
