I had a freak accident or something when I lost power earlier this week. When I rebooted Windows XP, all I get is a blue screen that says something that it can't check url.dll or something.

So i was just gonna reinstall windows , burn everything, then reformat.

Question is...will my current My Documents folder keep all the files i have now in it? or will it be reinstalled along with Windows?

No, reinstalling does not delete files. They will be there.

One possiblity is that it might be in a different folder in "Documents and Settings" if you choose to be a different user. But, yeah, the files will stay on HD.

If you reformat you will loose everything for sure.. I believe you can boot to the CD and select upgrade (might be repair).. and it will then NOT overwrite your settings and Documents. I did a screw up last night and lost my sound card, only way to get it back was to re-install, I booted the XP cd from within windows and selected upgrade.. it only repaired the problem file.... All is well
