If I network 3 computers, do I need a hub and/or switch?

Just curious. I've had a 2-computer network for a while and have just connected them with a cable, but I've heard that a hub or switch is required if you want to network more than that. Is that correct?

Yes it will be needed. A hub plus a few extra Ethernet cables can be had for less than $40 bucks. Get it.

I would use a switch because they are must faster then a dedicated hub...checkout the Dlink switches cheap and good.

Thanks for the input guys. But where might I find that for $40??? The cheapest I've seen is ~$70. Currently all my networking equipment is D-Link, and so far I'm a satisfied customer.

Oh geez, there's a LinkSys TWO PORT switch for 100 dollars...why the hell would you pay a hundred bucks for a switch when all you need to do is plug a crossover cable in?
