It is very troubling that somebody would even attempt to post that another member was critically ill or had passed on without proof.....that in itself is basically harassment taken to another level IMO.....

I for one do not see the humor. Nor do I understand why that person was ONLY given a 3 day vacation.

It would seem to me or IMO that these forums need to do some house cleaning in this regard.....

You could even say that that somebody does not meet the requirements for being allowed to post in these forums!

We all have our opinions and differences that is for certain!
Yet in the end none of us want to see harm come to somebody who we are mortal enemies with due to an issue such as Hamas and the Palestinians or AMD vs Intel.....Apple vs the rest of the worlds...etc.....

Yet and I believe I can speak for the majority that none of us would stoop so low as to post that somebody has passed when in fact we knew that did not pass.......

I for one have even had people who I do not get along with message me and ask if I had seen such and such an article and at the same time wish me a Merry Christmas.....so go figure.

Bottom line -- there needs to be a set super duper harsh penalty for such behavior......I think a 6 month ban is a good starting point.....and it should be posted as a sticky.......sort of a 1 strike and your out when it comes to posting fake RIP threads....

I for one like most of the members of these forums and wish only the best for everybody!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a Very Merry Christmas!!!

I am certain there will be a harsher penalty in the forseeable future....I really don`t know but would surmise that is the next step...lol

Don`t blame the mod -- I am sure this is not an everyday thing......
I am glad the MOD acted swiftly and I believe there is some discussion as we speak....

I agree the thread was awful and should carry a really harsh penalty, but its too bad JC didn't see it sooner and reply in awesome ATOT fashion. Coming back from the dead in your own RIP thread? He's even got the initials for it. lol

The three day vacation was an interim solution. We're discussing how much to add. Believe me, we're taking it seriously.

I was shocked by the three day ban. I've seen people permabanned for less. Glad the Mods are still discussing this.

I wasn't recommending a permban, though I am fine with that. I was making a comment.
 
Think permaban is excessive but maybe a 3 month vacation or something might send a message as to how significant this situation actually was. Granted I did come in from a link in the Hume thread and thus I did not view it as problematic right away but when considering another viewpoint of not already knowing it was a trolling thread I can see why this is a major concern. My guess is that Scholplx will learn from this and be more careful about crossing the line from now on but I am not a fortune seer.

Also think a sticky at the top of ATOT is not a good idea going off some intuition but maybe a sticky in personal forum issues would work perfectly fine.
 
How do you know? If so GOOD! I mean I seen people telling me rest in peace and crap. That's pretty bad. I thought perhaps he just saw someone on Facebook with my name, but he never did post a Facebook link.

Edit- Just checked my RIP thread.

John is NOT dead and I think we'll be seeing repercussions from this

And for the recoded know one here knows my Facebook and if I did die you more than likely wouldn't know it. Only clue would perhaps be the silence if I don't have Ban under my user name. So no one should be this easily deceived. LOL!
