*shrugs* I never e-mailed him back... I guess it goes to waste? I think it's fully refundable, it wasn't a priceline ticket or anything. He should be able to get his money back.
 
just a little update for you, with no bags to check I went from entering the terminal to being at my gate in less than 20 minutes. the self-serve boarding pass printers that United has are pretty cool. they did require boarding passes to get thru security, I think that's an airport-wide policy.

I did have to literally run to catch my connecting flight tho, that sucked 🙁 because the first flight was late we landed as my connection was boarding, and it was in another terminal that I had to take a shuttle bus to get to. I knocked grannies out of the way like bowling pins.
