Regarding this - http://www.macworld.com/news/2...05/ringtones/index.php

"Ringtones cost $1.98?99 cents for the ringtone plus the cost of the iTunes download. If you?re making a ringtone out of a song you?ve already bought from iTunes, the cost is 99 cents?Apple doesn?t charge you for the same download twice."

Riiight? Apple isn't charging you twice for the song because that would imply you have two copies of the song. Oh no, they're charging you twice for the song + a 30sec snippet of the song you've paid for the rights to listen to once already. Does anyone besides me see anything very wrong with this?

Also, I think it would be fair to say that they're forcing you to buy the full song to have the ability to make a ringtone out of it. What if I own the CD?

compare it to what other services charge for ring tones...and you get to keep the whole song...and you get to choose what snippet is your ring tone.

since you don't have an iphone, perhaps you should stop trolling. :)

I don't think it's Apple that is charging for ringtones; I think the music industry is putting pressure on them to charge for them. Why else would Apple make it so easy to hack? :D

So you'd rather pay Verizon $3.99 or whatever it is and NOT have the complete song, and not be able to pick the section of the song?

Apple doesn't own the music it sells.. They can't just do whatever they see fit with it.

I'll stick with my current phone.

Make my own and upload them over bluetooth as mp3s.

why aren't you complaining about the fact that verizon likes to cripple the ability to record and use that as your ringtone? Or that ringtones cost $3-4 from providers now? Yes, it'd be stupid to pay that.. but there's obviously a market for it.

I love reading/hearing people complain about things with no basis what-so-ever to complain.

My argument has already been made: EVERY other provider has more expensive ringtones. CHILL OUT!!!!!

ibrickr is your friend. Or just create an AAC and rename it.
