If i got an in grown toenail

and i cut it off myself...how do i make the pain go away

it's been hurting for ~2 days now with the limping and all....i tried putting neosporin on it with a band-aid

See a doctor, and not one of your mother's herbalist friends. It's ingrown, and no cutting you do will make it otherwise.

In the meantime, try soaking it in a hot bath of epsom salts, and keep on with the neosporin

I had an ingrown toenail one time for about 6 months(in highschool, many moons ago) and it hasn't ever come back. You gotta keep it dry and you can't mess with the nail. You can't cut it too short either or it digs in. No tight shoes either.

As far as the pain... walk it off.

nono, just like you'd regularly trim your toenails, except i cut the sharp angle part on the left that felt like it was stabbing me

EDIT: the left part of my toe, about 0.5 of a cm out from the nail, it all red and swolen

..best time to dig em out is after a shower..can still be a bloody mess..depending on where you do it it could look like a homicide took place so clean up when your finished..don't wear white sox for a few days...

Just have the podiatrist remove the nail and the pain will go away sooner than drawing out the pain over a long period of time.

You must dig it out with a knife or relatively sharp small object....It bloody hurts but i've done it enough times....

Just squeeze your toe until the puss comes out, then pour Hydrogen Peroxide over it. It'll relieve the pressure and then you can stop whining.

I agree. I had problems with both big toes getting ingrown and getting infected. The worst one was the left toe. Finally I went to podiatrist and he fixed it for good. I forsee a trip to the doctor once again to have the right toe fixed.

you can also go to a pedicurist... they can remove them, but only temporarily... they tend to grow back unless you have a doctor remove it for you...

ingrown toenails suck.

I had to go to the podiatrist to get one out. Hell, back then I didn't even KNOW what an ingrown toenail was. Health class teaches middle schoolers about sex, but not about something they might actually have to deal with =(

Doesn't take them that long, but it hurts. They sprayed my foot with this cold stuff, then gave me like 6 shots of local anesthetic, then cut it out and cauterized. My toenail is a bit smaller now but not that much smaller.
