Why would a man "go tanning"?

Winter vacations to tropical locals.

Hmm, I've never done that.

I always wondered why people were shielding there eyes when I walked by.

I live in NE and I'm going down to the Philippines this Feb. I'll tan for about a month before I go so I don't get flash burned by the sun when I walk off the plane.

I suppose it depends on how thick your beard is. If it's thick enough, the skin under will not tan.

No, you'll be fine. Hair doesn't apply to the laws of physics. Light just shoots right through each strand as if it weren't even there.

There's a product... what's it called again? It's got something or other about spf, but I don't know what that does.

My legs are like that. I need to shave those bastids. I look like the coyote in a road runner cartoon. My whole body gets darker but my legs stay a little pastey.

Maybe it's because I'm of Norwegian stock, but I've had poor luck with sunscreen unless I've already got some kind of tan going.

There's also a couple products called shirt and hat - they work wonders as well.

I'm going to the beach so I can strip down naked and scare the locals. Shirt and hat would cramp my style.

I pity da fool...that has pasty white complexion and gets sunburned just from looking at the sunshine...

My wife has lots of Swedish ancestry and burns in just a few minutes without SPF 6000 sunscreen...

OP, depending on your beard, you'll PROBABLY need to shave it off if you want that part of your face to tan.

If you have a "summer" beard, then you're probably ok.

(summer beard = some're here, some're there, = sparse thin beard)
