if I get artifacts on my screen, is there anyway to remove them without rebooting?

Try installing the latest driver for your videocard. 90% of artifacts (on computer screens, and not the ancient ones) are caused by crappy video drivers.

Looks to be video card driver problems. I've had that happen before.

try changing the resolution, then change it back. That might do it.

(if you were running *NIX, a simple ctrl-alt-backspace would fix it 😉)

Looks like a driver-memory thing.

Downclock your video card or something. You have it set too high. Thats what usually causes artifacts anyways.

If you minimize all of your Windows and hit F5, it will refresh your background.
