My vans limiter is at 95...doesnt feel too bad there, either...but I think I'll keep the limiter anyway ;)

You are going to blow the welds on your manifold using nitrous oxide.

A little tidbit:
The Lamborghini Diablo orignally did not have a wing. It was added for styling as it was requested by many people. Why did they leave out this item? Without the wing, the top speed was 9MPH higher.

mph = (rpm x tire diameter) / (gear ratio x 336) is the formula for determining the top speed of a vehicle. This doesn't factor in friction or wind resistance, so I would take this and reduce it by 20% to get a more real world number.

all depends on the car. Remember the batmobile on steroids they used to break the sound barrier on land with? Of course it had 2 jet engines.

If your car is limited by drag, your engine can't provide enough force to overcome wind resistence. If your car is limited by your tires, the tires will probably blow up before you get to your top speed. They make different rated tires for different speeds.

I know there are different ratings for tires, but I've never given it a lot of thought.

They really blow up?? Is that true? Why do they blow up? From the heat or the pressure build up? Even at short distances?

Or, do you mean they throw their threads? That I can probably understand, but blowing up is hard for me to figure out.

Nice. :)

Give me the top gear ratio, final drive ratio, engine redline (I assume 7k), and peak hp and tq numbers (or dyno chart), and I could give you a very close approximation.
His tires are Y and W rated (respectively), so those are not a limitation.

If you've already hit 153mph, I'm gonna say that's probably pretty close to the fastest you'll get, and is pretty damn impressive in itself. Nice as your 240 is, it's not a supercar.

Hmm.... I wonder what my top speed is. I think I was doing around 5500rpm at 115mph in 5th gear. My rev limiter is at 7700rpm. Think I could hit 130?

wow, that's cool as hell. I filled all that out and it said my car would redline at 149.31mph! :Q I dunno how accurate that is but at 5500rpm it said 114.06 which seems correct. awesome.

i've seen that happen twice before. I was at new england dragway and there was a r1 doing high 9s without n20. on his last run he opened up the n20 and got about 200ft when he had a backfire thru the intake. baboom, parts all over the place.

also saw a mustang there(mostly fiberglass, barely anything left of it) that got about 2 feet off the line boom. scared the sh!t out of the guy on the tree.

All it is is straight math. Any inaccuracies are due to tire flex and rounding errors. (ie: 2:3 becomes 0.666...:1)
