If I don't hand in "all" of the writing assignments for my music class, I will receive an INCOMPLETE!

I figured one missing paper would not hurt my grade that much, but no! My music professor pointed out that if all the written assignments aren't handed in by the day of our final exam, I will receive an incomplete!

Music Prof. > me! :(

I've got one more week of classes left, that's now a bad idea! I wonder how that would go across...

That is the way it was with every class I've ever taken in high school and college. That's pretty much the definition of incomplete - you didn't complete all of the course work. They don't let you pass the class if you didn't do all of the required work, even if you're going to get a 0 on the assignment anyway.

Given the rule is there at all, I doubt passlarity will ensue if you give in to the temptation to try weaseling out :)

It probably would not work out well for you. What are the requirements for the assignment? Is there a minimum length for the paper? Does it have to cover anything in particular? If you don't meet the requirements of the assignment, I doubt they'll count it.

I must have been lucky through the years mugs; if I didn't turn in one assignment, depending on my grade, it either didn't hurt me, or I lost a few points. :(

Is this a general music class, or is it specific? I would just talk with the prof explaining you could do the whole blank page with your name thing and waste everyone's time or just accept the 0. If he is a logical kind of person, then he'll see the idiocy of his own rule.

This could back fire on you if he changes the perchentage this 1 paper is worth so that your overall grade takes a more substantial hit.
