If I buy Kumhos from the net and install at Walmart..is there still warranty?

Hi.

I want to buy a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX size 195/55/15 online from Tiretrends and get them installed at Walmart. Walmart said they would only charge $70 to install all four tires and this seems to be the cheapest. However, will my tires still carry Kumho's manufacturer warranty? I am pretty sure neither Tiretrends nor Walmart are authorized Kumho dealers. Here is Kumho's warranty info:

It says to be eligible for warranty, I must present a Kumho warranty card which records the date of purchase (how do I get that and who signs/fills the card?) and original mileage. This is my first time buying new tires, so I am a bit noob at this. I live in Canada, incase that is of any relevance.

Clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just making an educated guess here, I've worked in the tire world in the past.

Just about all new tires come with a Manufacture Warranty to protect you from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of time that varies between companies. If it is a defect from the factory then an authorized dealer should honor it within the allowed warranty (adjusted of course, meaning they subtract the wear you have put on them and credit you back what hasn't been used). The only reasons why they wouldn't do this is if the installer damaged the tire(s) in some way during installation, not balanced, signs of irregular wear from alignment, road hazards, or any other mechanical failures (I may have missed something, been out of that line of work for over 10 years). Hope this information is helpful.

So I am guessing if I were to buy the tires from Tiretrends and have them installed at Walmart....if anything goes wrong, I just bring it in to any authorized Kumho dealer and they will sort it out? I am guessing that in the initial install of the tires...I still need someone to sign the warranty card to write down the initial mileage. Is that done by Walmart?

The warranty card SHOULD come with the tires (it's like a postcard). All you have to do is fill in the serial numbers that are on your tires and your current mileage and send it in.
Why would you buy from Tiretrends when you could get them from TireRack for almost 1/2 the price?

Correct. The card should be wrapped up in plastic wrap around the tire.

I can't imagine why TireTrends wouldn't be an "authorized dealer." They sell the product. It's not like you're buying them second hand from eBay.

I am buying from tiretrends and not tirerack because tiretrends is canadian, while tirerack is american and they ship with ups. I live in canada and I will never ship anything from america via ups becaue of the huge customs fees they charge.
