If given the option, should I always pay with PayPal?

You should avoid Paypal at all costs. They will rape you with their fees, and their customer support sucks when anything goes wrong.

I've never encountered any issues when paying with PayPal. Can't speak to their customer service though as a result. When I do pay with PayPal, I have the option to have it come out of CC or debit card, I never keep a balance in PayPal account ever.

I use whatever method of payment I think will get me the goods asap.

With a CC, you can get 1-10% cashback, an extended warranty, and the ability to do a chargeback with little to no questions asked depending on the nature of the chargeback and your relationship with your credit card company.

With paypal, you get 0% cashback, no extended warranty, and have to go through a lengthy process to get your money back.

PayPal can hold your money as long as they see fit and close your account as well. After I got screwed out of $300, I haven't used them since.

Paying with paypal is great. They offer a layer of protection that can be helpful if you don't want vendors knowing your CC info. As a buyer, you can dispute pretty much any transaction and likely win. Even if you lose, you can call your CC company and file a chargeback against paypal and you'll probably still get your money back (and screw the seller over in the process).

For sellers, paypal is pretty terrible. You lose pretty much any dispute against disgruntled buyers, and even if you win a dispute (which is rare) the buyer can file a chargeback with their CC company and paypal will freeze your account.

The only real downside to paying with paypal is that you lose out on cashback rewards programs.

I find myself doing this more and more, and they've already saved me from theft once.

I see my self going forward with them as long as I continue to complete the majority of my purchases online.

I'd use paypal for everything. What could possibly go wrong? You might want to consider transferring your life savings into your paypal account as well.

Or not? Any pros/cons for going with PayPal over just entering your CC info?
Not really.

I've been using them for years without a problem.

They're great for Ebay but you don't want to tie any regular bank account with them.

I use a Paypal only checking account and leave @ $70.00 for small purchases.

True story:

I was attempting to cancel an old bank account, and I had a reoccurring payment processed through Paypal every month. No big deal, right? I just cancelled the payment and set up my new CC info for that vendor, and went on my merry way.

A month later, I find that my old "closed" bank account is still open because Paypal is still sending charges. It turns out that they've tried THREE TIMES to charge a payment that's been cancelled, causing my account to overdraft each time.

I call them. They tell me there's nothing that they can do about the previous charges, but they'll stop the payment. A week later, THE SAME THING happens. Same thing the next week. Same thing the next week...

This happened 4 times, causing me a ton of headache. Fortunately my bank was understanding and helped me with the charges - they told me that they see this a lot.

I wasn't impressed at all. I cancelled my Paypal account shortly after.
