If given the choice do you think homesexual would get a sex change. Lets say that it was possible to complete and flawlessly become a member of the opposite sex (without the reproduction quality), do you think the majority would do it?

In my opinion and talking to my office mate, I think that they wouldn't, it's like having your cake and eating it too.

Having your cake and eating it too? I fail to see where that lies.

But generally, I do not think homosexuals would go for this. Think about it. If they like that kind of gender in a relationship, what makes anyone think that they can change genders and maybe take the relationship for another twist.

But to find acceptance in this heterosexual world and to have a "majority" couple picture painted, I am sure some might go through with this. Maybe there is no difference in enjoying sexual experiences...

i don't think so. I don't think homosexuality is a gender issue. I bet transexuals would probably disagree with me, so I'll await a reply from Jen....(no wait, better not say that.)

what i mean of having your cake and eating too, its like enjoying the "benefits" of your gender, and still get to court the same sex, something that "ideally" the opposite sex gets to do.

im not sure if im making myself clear.

So what you are saying is that when a man man or a woman woman couple becomes a man woman couple that the one with the sex change gets to have relations with the previously relations as without the sex change like the woman gets to have relations with the men she likes while being a homosexual automatically places her to like women too?

Geez! This world would have been much better if such confusion is never created.

thats kinda the point of the thread Red, to see what the majority of the people here (which seems to be your heterosexual male, except for Killbat of course :p), think of the matter, i gonna ask a couple of my gay friends and see what they say.

it just seemed to me that since they like the same sex, wouldnt it be easier to just become the opposite sex and do what they have been doing before?

ohh well

Only one of them would have two holes instead of one. ;) And for the ladies, one of them would have an extra tongue... :Q

That is ok DAM. I hardly understand it while typing that one.

But still, that cake quote really does not apply. How can someone have got their cake and eaten it too if one of the people in the relationship went through the change? I am thinking maybe because they can have the benefits of physically declaring no homosexual experiences physically while maintaining the relationship before but with new parts.

But as for identity being confused in this, probably many would vouch no.

Just because one identifies oneself as a homosexual does not mean they desire to change their biological sex.

Transexual: An individual who desires to change their biological sex

Transvestite: This is a cross-dresser(not necessarily gay)

Homosexual: One who displays desire, practices same sex behavior, and identifies oneself as a homosexual.

Remember that "gender" is different from "sex". "Gender" is self identity...not biology. Homosexuality has nothing to do with gender. It has everything to do orientation.

BTW-I just finished up a summer school class in SOC 4260(Human Sexuality). I recommend it.

i dont think they would, they are homosexuals because they are attracted to people of the same sex, not because they want to be a different gender.

i understand they are attracted to the same gender, it just seems natural that their life would be much easier.

The saying is actually phrased, "You can't eat your cake and have it, too."

So, now you have to start the thread all over again, it having begun with a flawed assumption. :)

No. I remember now.

It is, "You can't have your cake and eat it too."

my understanding of what i was trying to say:

as a male:

having your cake = being able to hit on girls

as a gay male:

having your cake = being able to hit on men

as a male:

and eating it too = being hit on by woman

as a gay male:

and eating it too = being hit on by woman

wtf? that made no sense to me, but ohh well.

DAM,

The way it was explained to me by a gay person, is that they do want to be with men, but as men. They desire to be a man being hit on by a man.

I think that was the point that someone earlier in the thread was trying to make, (I'm too lazy to look again :))

late.
