They can toss you in jail
Tow the car to the impound
Search it
Search your house
Wiretap your phone
Get your bank records
And keep you in jail for a however long they feel.

All without a warrant.
Or charges being filed.

That is incorrect.

Having a right is not much use if you have to have a lawyer in order to exercise it.

You don't have to be a lawyer. Look, they need probable cause to search your car if they aren't going to arrest you. You say "No. By the fourth amendment, no you may NOT search my car." If they do so anyway, file a complaint and if you have tho cash, get a lawyer.

Invoking your constitutional right is NOT against the law and does NOT admit any sort of guilt!

Canine detection for illegal substances was passed by the Supreme court years and years ago pal.

Even if your local police force does not have a canine, if you refuse the officer can have a judge fill out a search warrant for your vehicle if you are acting suspiciously.

like refusing the search. :D

you are a moron

NEVER AGREE TO A SEARCH

My buddies were driving down to Miami to spend a few days at the beach. A cop stopped them for going 105mph in a 70. Then, the cop asked to search the car. The driver said sure..

The cop proceeded to open all their luggage and left everything laying in the wet grass in the middle of the road. They showed me a picture of all their clothes just laying on the ground. It looked like the cop just dumped everything out. They found out later that they could get the cop in trouble... if they drove the 4 hours back to Miami to do so. They decided it wasn't worth it.

I had a cop ask to search my car.. I said, "Forget it." He said he would make me wait for a dog. I told him, "On what probable cause?" He said he didn't need any. I told him, "Then give me my ticket and I will be leaving now." He then gave me my ticket and I left. A cop cannot hold you there for no reason. They're only allowed to hold you for the reasonable amount of time it takes to write a ticket unless they have 'probable cause'.

Isn't breaking the law (thus the cop pulling you over, giving you a warning/ticket) enough probable cause?

No. A traffic violation is reasonable Suspicion, NOT enough for a search of the vehicle. Unless the cop sees something in plain view to bump it up to probable cause, NO search can be conducted.
