Well I use ATT@home and was wondering everything pretty much stay the same? Or would I have price changes, better/worse service, equipment changes?

Less competition = less choice = less customer service = higher prices. The equation is simple. :(

I have (or had) Mediaone cable and ATT bought it out and the service went to H***, now have to wait 3-4 hrs for dumb service out of Newfoundland for god sakes....if you get thru at all.
So, i hope the Comcast service is better.

Its a cable company, there is no competition for subscribers in a single area (kinda like local phone service) So I dont think that will have an effect.

I have Comcast and they have local ISP offices for thier @home service, I think you will be pleased. You will probally get a new IP # though.

Damn! AT&T just raised our rates, and my throughput has been dropping at a slow, steady pace. If I have to pay more for declining service I am going to raise some hell :|

When a company becomes a monopoly everything goes downhill for the consumer!

I read an article in the paper that DSL is quickly catching up to cable in terms of the number of subscribers. By 2003-2004 DSL will be the majority and the prices will come down by about $10.

I love my DSL service quality. I just wish it wasn't so F'ning slow. I pay the same as my cable using buddies (50/month) but they get 5x the download speed that I get.

I live in Minnesota, and when I got mediaone I love it.... Only had to wait 2-3 mins to get on the phone and talk to a REAL person..... once AT&T bought it out, my speeds started slowing down...... they raised the price.. and now it takes at least 1 hour on the phone to talk to a real live person.... I called the support line 2 times one night because I lost my internet connection.... the first time I waited 30 minutes then somehow I got hung up on..... Tried it again, waited 1 hour.. then said *EFF IT* hung up. Tried 2 weeks later and waited over 1 hour and then got to talk to a person about my billing problem..... AT&T can go to hell.

"ATT can go to hell!!!"

And I'm all over that quote......Because I will buy their tickets for the ride down there.

Even though I live in New York City, the only broadband internet connection I get to my house is ATT DSL..... And I gotta tell you they are realll bastards.

During the first trial month (where u are allowed to back out), they provided me with continuous service and around 500 kb/sec downloads. After that month it went worse and worse.... by another month it was down to 200 kb/sec !!!!! And you think THAT is bad??? by the next two months, I was getting disconnected every 5 minutes for about 30 seconds each time, and it was CONSISTENT!!!

I called those bastards EVERY DAY, and some times TWICE a day, just complaining. Eventually they KNEW me just by voice. I almost started using a modem again, but the problem with broadband is that once u try it once u can't go back...

So now I'm on a wide search for a different provider. Oh and how is the DSL now? going a nice 3 times faster than 56 K..... =P and disconnects only bout once a day. *sigh*

burn in hell, AT&T.
