Bryant Gumbel is such an Oreo, they almost renamed Oreos 'Gumbels', except it sounded to much like gumballs.

I had a track coach in highschool who was from St. Lucia. He called me Oreo in the state finals 100 and 200 meter dash. I was the white guy surrounded by black hehe. When was walking down the stairs with my two gold medals around my neck I asked him "Oreo huh?" he just laughed.

For a black guy tho, they call that 'genes'. :p

Yeah, no idea where the running gene came from. I am 50\50 Polish German. And whiter than white. I glow in the sun. But from about 4th grade on I was always able to outrun people. Played baseball and in 8th grade instead of playing I ran bases for the traveling team. 38 games, 69 bases stolen. 9th grade I went out for track lol. Junior\Senior year I lost a total of 3 100 meter dashes and 1 200. The 200 was because I had a pulled hamstring in the sections final. I consider losing being 2nd or worse.

All that despite 50% polish, huh? :p j/k! There have been some great german sprinters, and no doubt polish too...maybe you are even related in some way or another to one of them.

I used to play baseball thru 15 years old too and was great at getting on base and stealing. One year the coach's typical steal signal from third base (when I'm on first) was to yell across the diamond and say, "I want you here!" :D I even stole home 3 times that year iirc.

No question it wasn't speed like yours tho. When everyone went thru puberty I lost my edge. :p At that point I became a distance runner.
