I've helped run a text forum before, and it was approx 1/4 the size of this. It was cheap and easy, we did it for free actually, no ads or anything.

Now, an image forum, that's different. I understand why places like 4chan ask for donations. Hell, asking for donations HERE would be acceptable, too. But MAKING people pay? Asinine.

I think it would kill the user base, the one thing that's great about AT, is the ability to receive an answer in 4.2 seconds flat. Without so many users I don't think I could stay here.

I was actually quite annoyed when they took the subscriber option away, I rather liked the ad-free experience. And come to think of it the subscriber servers were MUCH faster than the non-subscriber servers so there was that bonus too.
