download the dolphin hd browser app, set it to desktop mode, and then you should be able to watch youtube videos.

i went from 17 to 19 for the BT, but it's annoying to set everything up again. i'll probably hold off of the updates until something else significant comes out.
 
I reverted back to stock 1.0.1 yesterday, backed up, then updated to 1.1 and backed it up as well. My 1.1 rooted and tinkered with setup was working pretty well though honestly, best thing I found was the wireless adb--works great. I also had the wifi and gps successfully tethering over wifi from my Droid as well, very slick.

Going to try CM7 today I think. Have Honeycomb running off SD card and it's pretty nice but a bit slow (especially in the browser) and Nookie Froyo irritates me every time (tried again yesterday off the SD card and softkeys couldn't get root grrr).

Definitely makes my Droid's screen feel small after browsing on this thing though.
 
I am using CM7 most of the time now. The newest version has optimized composite for the NC gpu that makes it WAY more responsive. The best part is that most CM7 improvements should translate to ASOP Honeycomb. Its up to Google now to release the source.
 
How is HC on Nook Color? I prefer to hold it in my hand and use it in portrait mode, Is HC good for portrait mode at all, all the photos I see of it are in landscape.

Don't know about HC, but I use my NC in portrait all the time. It gets a little hard to hold for long periods of time, but that's not what I bought it for anyway.

Sweet...time to update. I'm still on nightly #8 or something like that and haven't seen anything (good or bad) worth updating for, but this sounds like a good reason to do so.
 
I almost bought one for full price at best buy today. They shouldn't leave demo models out where impressionable people with money to burn are there. It's not fair. That said if (or when) they get Netflix working on this thing 100% I'm buying it immediately.
 
Has anyone seen a writeup on taking the nightlies and converting to an SD card version? Would rather leave the Nook software on and just run off the SD card...

The lower clock and notifications in HC portrait are off--run half off the screen. Seems a bit touchy with finger presses and smaller interface features as well.
 
I'm gonna give the CM nightlies (SD) a shot tonight.

tried froyo, and HC and eclair. I'm soo impressed with the zippy responsiveness with eclair overclocked to 1.1ghz so thats where I'm staying for now until HC and/or CM get a little more refined.

Anyone else like the older version of android market better than the newer? Why would I go to the new version?

Not quite--that is what I'm doing with HC actually. I need to do some digging as to what goes where and the partition structure for it. Don't want to run anything off the eMMC until it's completely ready and I won't be changing it immediately 😛

I have a seen a few nightly SD builds, but they lag waaaaaay behind whatever the current build is.
 
Anyone interested in buying mine? Got in on the BN eBay deal....$215 with tax. Bought an iPad 2 on launch day and havent used this since I put on a ROM. Let me know, heatware under yzzim.

As far as apps go, I was using TigerSNES emulator to play Link to the Past and FF III, and it was pretty slow at times. I tried SNesoid and it was worlds better, so much so that I ended up buying it (allows loading saved states.)

It does drain the battery like there's no tomorrow, though.
 
For those of you using the nook to actually read, do books you import from your PC support the cover art, or at least merge that library with your purchased library? It was an issue of mine with the original nook that you couldn't see all your books at once, either just the ones you bought from b&n or the ones you sideloaded via USB. Why I couldn't see then all in one list I don't know.
 
I'm planning on running 2.2 from an sd card on my nook color at first. I came across an ebay auction for a dual boot SD card with the ability to overclock the nook as well. I know this can be done by rooting the nooks internal memory but I've never seen any post on doing this from an sd card before. Anyone familiar with this procedure? I'd like to make my own sd card. Below is the description of what he says the card does.

Toro, this dual boot is easy to do. Don't go buying the ad card when you could do it yourself

I dual booted froyo and eclair... Im sticking with eclair for now

Both can be overclocked and it is a simple process
 
Thanks, I'm not buying the card, I'm making my own sd with Froyo 2.2 for now. I was just curious about doing a dual boot and overclocking from the sd card? Had'nt heard of that trick.

There aren't two OSes on the SD card. Instead the SD card has a boot menu that allows you to chose between the OS on the card and the stock OS on the eMMC. I don't recommend this, as i find running off a SD all the time pretty much sucks (even with a nice SD card). If you want to dual boot, do what I do and boot both OSes off the eMMC.

So I need to root, get the app store on it, install ROM manager, then use ClockworkMod Recovery for nook to flash? His instructions are as follows:

- Flash with the latest ClockworkMod Recovery for nook from Rom Manager
- Unzip and copy all contents of "phiremod-V5.1.tar.gz" to the root of your SD

Dont I need to do step 2 before step1?

Burn the image to any size (>1GB) mSD card. Then just copy your CM7 zip of choice onto it, let it boot, it will expand and set up your SD card properly. Also will handle the gapps zip.

+1 - I ran this last night and it runs great on the SD card. Overclocking with SetCPU seems to speed things up nicely as well. Perfect dual-boot setup for me since I still use the nook native OS/app for books, magazines and newspapers.
