OMG, WTF's wrong with his skin color!!??!

Looks like he cooked himself in an oven for to long.

They spray themselves with bronser (<spelling?) to give them the dark deep tan color in order to show more definitiion.

Yep, and the color has gotten darker over the years. The darker the skin the more the cuts and shadows show up. It gave black contestants a distinct advantage.

For us geeks, think of it as video game graphics. The shading mixed with the highlights from the shine in the oil give a greater sense of 3D. In this case, making the muscles look bigger and more defined.
