Whoa how strange I was reading ars in one window and here in another, I opened that thread talking about here then clicked this one without realizing that they were about the same topic, what are the odds.

<< Never signed up for an account there. Saw the disgusting "personality icons" or whatever once, got sickened and left. Still came back for the Hot Deals forum though. >>

<---come on now, how could anyone call this face sickening? ;)

>>but that level of Mod involvement also has it's down side in that they can basicly censor anything you say and compleatly at their desrection which is un-democratic at best and down right facist at worst<<

I agree with you that they do a good job, and you have to take the bad with the good, but it is their board after all and they can do pretty much whatever they want. They just know that if people feel that they step out of line then they won't come here.

Mr. bigvince,

I believe you have a good point in your post just previous, and I see that an obvious open air of discussion exists here (or at the least, in this thread); I would think, however, that in general such heavy-handed moderation tactics would tend to impede the expression of free (especially if if unpopular) thought, and foster an element of sycophancy that is anethema to any good forum.

As for the issue of "Fora wars" betwixt Anand and Ars, I do not see this thread (and its counterpart at Ars) as being that case at all. In fact, I think this is a fascinating view into those people who frequent each, and how their perceptions of each other are affected by the interchange. I for one hope to be able to participate in both (at least until I am deemed unwelcome), in the future.

Regards,
_Fakir

No I'm just an Arshole lurking.

Just wanted to see what was all the fuss about AnandTech forums. It seems to produce a lot of refugees and I was just wondering why.

Usually it boils down to some drivel about rightness ness, but then again forums aren?t frequented by regular and imperfect folks.

But down bother, I?m just a little peon.
