If Al Sharpton was ever elected NYC mayor, the NYPD would quit in droves

Bull shit cops would have retired in droves if Al Sharpton had won. Again, I'm no fan of Sharpton, but I guarantee the overwhelming majority would have remained. Yeah, they're going to quit a well paying job (though dangerous job) that allows them to power trip, because they disagree with which candidate won mayor of NYC. We NEED police reform.

Based on your original post bitching about a candidate that lost nearly 3 decades ago, you are for supporting the police even if they commit police brutality. Based on your other posts, you are racist and for the suppression of minorities. It took multiple people over multiple posts asking you to clarify your stance and you're being dodgy with your response. And you finally only answered that way because you finally got clued in on how shitty your stance is.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion. If anyone wants to be a raging shit head racist, that is their right. But don't be surprised when most people don't share such views.
I support police reform, I don't like crooked cops. I am a realist. In 1992, Mayor David Dinkins faced a off-duty police riot from Rudy Giuliani and the NYC PBA because he wanted to create a civilian complaint review board---they booed him and called Dinkins, the first Black mayor of NYC, racial slurs. Dinkins would later lose to Giuliani a year later.

Yeah anyone who thinks the cops would quit is an idiot.

They would do what they always do, which is stay on the job collecting a full paycheck and just stop working. This is why the police unions need to be disbanded so when cops don’t do their jobs they get fired.

The job of mayors as Bernie Kerik's chief of staff John Picciano says is to back the police, to support the police....

Cops don't want to work in a city where they don't get the support of the public and the politicians.

Cops need to earn respect and support. they don’t just get defacto support because they are cops.

Black America may not be a monolith, but it seems that way. Black Americans vote Democratic 90-10 every year, hell, a Black Republican can't even make inroads in the Black community without being called Uncle Tom, etc.

So, there's that.
wait., so your saying a political party that is racist towards blacks has trouble getting their vote? that is so weird

They don't want to be in an environment where they don't feel the government has their backs.......

That's why today, in 2023, a lot of NYPD officers are leaving and retiring.

Unfortunately for the citizens of NYC, the NYPD thinks ‘have their back’ means ‘immune from any and all accountability’.

Regardless, I encourage any NYPD member who thinks they are badly treated to quit. They don’t quit though, they continue to collect their paychecks while not doing their jobs. They are stealing from the public.

They are seen as the authority. They have a gun and they can use it if they feel threatened. I would not argue with a cop.

This country gave them a lot of power. If this country had better self and social control, we won't have the need for these people....

Well yes, that is what Giuliani, Ray Kelly, Boomer Esiason, most sports organizations like the NY Rangers, Mets, etc. who shower them with "Law Enforcement Night" stuff.......

Well, yes, the GOP is seen as hostile to blacks, so they will have a hard time getting more than 15%-25% of the vote....

It's just like how the Dems are seen as hostile to white voters, that's why Dems usually get 35%-44% of the white vote.....

Latinos are the future swing vote.........

I mean what's next? The British never robbed their subjects in Palestine to force Europe's Jewish problem onto those lands based upon extreme religious fundamentalist arguments?

I didn't realize equality meant hostile towards white people. Hostile to the privilege they have?

When elements of the Left says things like this, Dems can't be a supermajority party.......why would white working class people want anything to do with that?

Hence why a lot of cops vote Republican, even in cities like NYC, LA, DC, Chicago.

Question for the OP why are the survivors and their families still trying to get compensation for having their businesses/homes destroyed and being murdered with help from the city?

I'm asking since this post was referencing a speech in the city of Tulsa home of one of the worst race massacres in this country's history. I'm also trying to figure out the point of this thread.

If the price of police support is agreeing with the brutalization of their fellow citizens why should a party with any kind of morals seek their support?

I just came here to say that if you would have told me 10 years ago that I would enjoy listening to Al Sharpton as a host on tv I would think you were crazy. Is it me or him that changed? I think it was him.
