If a war happened, god forbid, would you join?

if blood needs to be shed to defend our country, let it be mine first...I am sick of this terrorist crap and something needs to be done !!!

 
Although I have very bad eyesight, a ruined left ankle, and a little overweight, I ready. Perhaps not good enough for a desert march, but ready to help in anyway possible.
 
I'm looking at National Guard recruiting information right now. If the call goes out, it will be answered.

-I am pregnant
-I am of Honduran citizenship

I am also praying with all my soul that this situation does not result in war.
 
Well, no, but that's because I've already been in, done my schtick, and got relieved. My time's past.

It was a hard time, too. Right after Vietnam and before the Gulf war. No one understood why I was in (I was a Reservist most of the time; mobolized only once). No one cared, and most thought it was stupid.

But folks, the modern Army (can't speak for the other services, or even modern, for that matter) is a hugely complex organization. You don't just saddle up and ride forth into war. You need training. That takes time.

Consider your thoughts now, and whether you can spare the 2+ years of your life to do something you will always, afterward, be proud of: I was a soldier. Then, when you are called upon, you are ready. After that, someone else will carry the torch.

My point is that not everyone can be a hero (can be is operative -- you won't all have the opportunity). The police and fireman in the Towers were well trained, and knew their jobs. They didn't just walk in off the street, and they trained for a while.

That, people, is part of patriotism, IMHO. I'm sure most of you are "ready to go", but you're not ready. Not yet. That commitment takes time. Please check to see if you can spare the time. If so, sign up where you think you can do the most good.

One of an interesting side note. I was driving through an Idaho National Guard depot, I saw one my high school teacher in uniform. This dude was in no fighting shape. A lot of these guys and gals are teachers, mechanics, and college students, they are either fat or old. I love them but they are not warriors.

but even times of not war time, i will join army reserves

Hey Pocatello: no offence, but ot takes all kinds to fight a war. All Kinds. Give me some super-efficient dweeb with Coke-bottle-bottom glasses who knows how to handle flight schedules any day over some steroid strewn football jock who wants to come off the field and make like Rambo.

Or in the war just starting, maybe someone else.

They may be old, fat, and out of shape, but chances are there is at least one of them who knows how to be comfortable in the field overnight -- and hence ready to do his/her job in the morning.

This is going to be along fight, folks.
 
I was planning on joining the Navy via ROTC to fly, but then I got glasses. So now I'm planning on attending either Cornell or Penn State, in Naval ROTC to join the Marine Corps, hopefully in either tanks or R&D, specificaly testing, so yes, I would join.
