If a lie is repeated enough times by enough people so that most accept it as the truth...

It is a fact and it's called the ego, what we think we are. The ego is a fact that is a lie.

exactly.

the answer is in the eye of the beholder. if it is true to one person, then hell, it is true as far as he is concerned. if it is false to the other person, then hell, it is false as far as he is concerned.

Its called relativism. Between man all truth is relative. What appears true to me...is true for me and what appears true to you...is true for you. If you see things differently than I do...then its true for you but not necessarily true for me!! ~ simply put...one man's truths could be another man's lies!!

Man that some deep doodoo I just put done there!!!LOL

I guess it all depends on your viewpoint as far as reality goes. Relativist (is his/her own god and makes all the rules, so what they believe goes). Absolutist (things are what they are, individuals opinions are simply that, if they don't jive with reality they are lies).

So a much repeated lie can be accepted as truth, but only by people that want to believe it or those too stupid to know the difference......:D

yep, and it can be applied across the whole scheme of things such as ethical values, how you should raise your child, etc.

You guys are confusing things here. Relativism and absolutes only work with the intial idea of whether or not the initial "lie" was indeed a "lie".

We are already *assuming* that the initial idea is indeed a lie. All the fluff and smoke won't change that initial deception. If it was false to begin with, it will still be false no matter how you twist in down the line.

Now disputing if the original lie, was indeed a lie, is a who nuther thread :)

It's an axiom, and neither wrong nor right until proven wrong or right.
