If A dealership refuses to give me a incentive, and I've paid for the car, do I have any rights?

Do I get any rights to the incentives?

I went ta a dealership to buy a car. I ask for the incentive, which is a item(similar to the home depot tools package on f150s a while back). They refuse but I buy the car anyway(stupidly). I pay in cash for the car, no financing. Is there any way I can get the incentive since the dealership refused me for it? My credit is 770, my new car is all paid for in cash.

On top of that to add insult ot injury, I had to wait 6 hours after I paid in cash before the dealership would give me my new car. I sat there and read through every single newspaper.

It so sad, at anothr branch of this dealership(its a chain) which sells a different brand of car, service is 11ty billion x better and the employees so prefessional.

On top of that, I bring my other car in to be looked at and even though 2 of my coworkers with 40+ years of exprience tell me there si something wrong, the dealership dosent find a thing wrong and now I'm out $104 for diagnosing.

- RPMs drop when I turn on the ac, unlike in every other car i've ever drove on or worked on.(Normal is to rise slightly)
- Put in D and with brakes on, engine shakes badly, as in the airbox looks like its going to fly off. Unlike any other car I've ever worked on or drove in(Honda civic/accord, all modern fords up to e450, mazda mpv, etc)

I might just be off of toyota for a few years. Worst dealership exprience ever.

Your first mistake was buying a car at a dealership.
Your second mistake was buying a car at that dealership when you KNEW another branch was much better.
Your third mistake was your ridiculous sense of entitlement.

I had that happen when i bought my truck...paid and forgot to get the "incentive" (free gas + trip to somewhere)...I called the dealership and got salesman to get me my gas card for $100. After numerous calls and letters to dealership still havent gotten anything more.

Sorry, they use the incentive to get you to buy the car. If you already bought they car, they really have no incentive to give you the.....uh..incentive :)

The only reason they would do it is if they think it'll help get your business in the future.

Sigh, I only bought at this dealership out of employee loyalty. I used to work for another branch and everynoe there was very good with service, to the point of rediculous perfection. I guess I;m spoiled to think that in a capitalist society, the consumer should win.

How did you hear about the incentive ?

If the dealer promoted the incentive, and you fulfilled the terms required to get the incentive, you have a case.

I fulfilled every term required, the dealer told me the item was out of stock and that they werent getting any more, even though the advertisment was still up.

Then you are most likely entitled to compensation, unless they spelled out there were limited quantities and followed the laws of your state.

Many states have laws about this kind of thing, some don't allow limited quantity sales.

I know. My older car is within the pwoertrain warranty(Bought Camy sept 29 2001) but no problems found = rape me up the arse in diagnostic fees.

Should have financed the car and then paid it off on the first payment. Dealers make money from selling you financing. They like to work with you on financing = financed car cheaper than cash car.

What was the reason for denying you the incentive?
Why did you go ahead and buy there, IF you really wanted the incentive and they refused to give it?
Is it an incentive on the local level, or the regional/national level?
If it's above the local level, and you met all the requirements advertised in the incentive program, then you MIGHT be able to go above the dealership level and get the incentive...if it's on the dealer level, then you got what you deserved, by buying the vehicle even though they refused to honor the incentive for whatever reason.

edit...I see some of my questions were anwsered while I was posting...

You agreed to buy the car without the incentive.

Why would you be entitled to it?

It's that simple.

Not really. It's against the law to entice a customer into buying something with an incentive, then not deliver the incentive.

He didn't agree to not get the incentive, they gave him no choice. In many states, they aren't allowed to do that.

Yes you deserver the incentive, if they don't give it to you you should ram that stupid car straight into thier office building and demand a refund.

The scenario you describe would be if the dealer said you get an incentive, then you buy the car, and THEN they say they won't give it to you.

In the OP's situation, he asked for the incentive and they said no. THEN he bought the car. How could he expect to get it? They said no before he bought the car!

Umm, they told him he wouldn't be getting the incentive before he plunked down the cash. It was his choice to go ahead with the purchase, KNOWING that he wouldn't be getting the incentive.

Why is this so difficult to grasp?

It doesn't matter they said no, it isn't up to them. Contracts are governed by the law, not by car dealers.

So what matters is what the law says in that state.

Because at least in some states doing that is against the law. And he didn't agree to buy it without the incentive, he didn't have any choice.

The dealer can't advertise an incentive, and then just not deliver on it.
