If a DEA agent came to your store and...

asked if you remembered who you sold a phone to back in May of 02... and he gave some kind of subpeona saying that they need the records from a phone company... what would you say?

This happend at one of my stores, not to me, but to another supervisor. She just informed me about it... it's weird because I asked her if she asked for his badge but he said he was undercover or something. That right there got me thinking... hey wait a minute, anyone can come up with a fake subpeona but not anyone can come up with a fake badge with a real DEA number. Also, she asked what this was all about, I could have sworn that most officers would never say anything about it, but this guy said "the guy's a drug dealer."

WEIRD I tell ya, weird.

Undercover? Or plain dress. if you're undercover, why would you give yourself away by declaring you're a DEA agent? But if it was just plain dress, they still need to show identification.

I hope she didn't give him the records. No undercover cop is ever going to pull a bonehead move like issuing a subpoena while undercover. That's why they have thousands of uniformed cops and other people to do it. I smell scam

That sounds kind of fishy, I would think that most law enforcement agencies have channels to get subpoenaed phone information without having to go to the actual store, plus if he wouldn't show his badge thats another flag.

If its anything like the retail stores around here, the employees just use the "look at the person asking the question with your best 1000 yard stare until they go away" method.

never ask to see a badge. They have an ID for a reason, and also request that a uniformed police officer be present as well.

Yeah I definately think it's some sort of scam. I'm going to let her know to not release anything without seeing some type of proper ID.
