Dell has the 73" for $1180:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...=baynoteSearch

My parents have the 60" model. One of the best pictures I've ever seen - I would buy a Mitsubishi DLP over any LCD or Plasma on the market today, including the Kuro. The 60" is $750 and the 65" is $850. Awesome size for half the price of a competing LED LCD.

They had it for 1099 up until a few weeks ago on ebay, free shipping, direct from dell. it was the WD73C10 and I almost got it.

Yea, but projectors don't have 16 built in speakers, internet connection, bluetooth connectivity, 120Hz display or 3D features. Not to mention you have to technically shut any source of light in the room is order to get the best image possible :hmm:

Why would you ever use the tv's speakers anyways, if you have a big screen you better have a good sound system. There are plenty of 120hz, and 3d Projectors. Heck you can get a 720P 3D projector for like 600 bucks. Sure you have to shut off other lights to get the best image, but then you don't have to settle for such a small image or have to deal with moving something like that into the room.

many people had bad expirences with them and their color wheel + bulb issues

the new laser DLPs don't have those issues. they might still have poor viewing angles but thats a minor issue

I'd really like to see a LaserVue in person. My parent's 60" Mitsubishi DLP is one of the top 2 TV's I've ever seen - that and the Kuro plasma. The DLP beats the Kuro for skintones and the Kuro beats the DLP for CGI cartoons (brightness/shiny screen). I can't imagine the LaserVue being much better, but I'd love to see one in person to find out :awe:

I have a 65" DLP and i love it. the color is great. Had to replace the 1st bulb after 3 years of use so not bitching to much.

that said unless they have improved i will get a LCD next. the price for big lcd's have dropped a LOT

what's wrong with DLP?

They make too much noise (fan+colorwheel), at least the one I had did. The colorwheel was failing and I replaced it but it still was too noisy.

If the new ones don't have fans or colorwheels I might consider them again but probably not.

DLPs suck, I'm sorry. What's the point of having an 82" screen if only the central 40" look good, and only to someone sitting directly in front of the screen?

You're a moron, I'm sorry. Viewing angles even on old models are greatly exaggerated, and WTH do you even mean by only the center looks good?

Mitsubishi likes to make this ginormous last-gen HD tech TVs...does anyone ever buy them?

I've never heard anything good about their displays--though I don't think I've ever heard anything bad.

aren't they the first (and perhaps still the only) manufacturer to come out with a laser TV?

whatever. give me an enormous Plasma any day.

I've never looked at a spec sheet to see what the advertised viewing angles are. All I know is that every time I've seen an RPTV in person, including newer DLPs, including in places other than overly bright electronics stores, they look terrible unless you're viewing them dead on. And even then, they're much less bright than any of the other options.

I just don't understand how someone can look at an RPTV and say "Yes, I think I will spend a few thousand dollars on that." Their only appeal is large size for the price.

As someone who has owned one, not just looked at them in stores... Angles are fine. Not noticably different from the LCDs and plasmas I've seen. And as long as you dont have a 20' wide couch I dont see it being an issue

Not only are they much larger for the price, they're very good picture quality. Ask kaido, he was shocked to see how good the dlp he got for his parents looked. He says its kuro quality and I believe him. Mines not kuro quality, but thats cause its 4 years old.

The local Fry's Electronics store has around 10 Mitsu DLP's on display and every single one has horrible viewing angles. Even cheapy LCD's have better viewing angles than the DLP's they have on display. I'm sure they're not the newer Lazervue ones so maybe they're older models but the viewing models on them are atrocious. Great when viewed perfectly head on but any decent deviation and it's terrible. That's the reason I didn't pick one up in November. 99% of us can only go on what we can see in the stores we go to and it's leaving a bad impression.

what kind of work do you do that you need multiple 103" tv's?

hes a programmer/dev for a casino gaming company. not sure what they use them for day to day but i know they are used for demos and such at trade shows

It's one of our platforms for "community" or "group" gaming. 5 smaller machines in a bank all linked to a 103" that bonuses are played on as a group, flanked by a 2 72".

I have a 65 inch dlp. the viewing angle is fine. even sitting off to the side. only time it gets bad is if you get something like a 45 degree angle and are close.

but in my living room a full room of people and all seats were great.
