IEXPLORER error

Tash

Senior member
I was getting this error once every couple of days (Win XP Pro). I thought maybe I had some bad memory, but I just replaced my memory and just got the error again.

IEXPLORER.EXE - Application Error

The instruction at "0x10005f6c" referenced memory at "0x10005f6c". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program

What's the problem?

IEXPLORER.EXE is related to either spyware or a virus. Update the virus definitions on your virus scanner and perform a full scan, then run Ad-Aware and Microsoft's Anti-Spyware tool.

You could also hit your computer with a hammer.

I would suggest taking the case off and looking for the CPU.

Draw a big red X with marker where the CPU is.

AIM THERE!!!

That'll fix er' up nice nice.

That solution would eliminate the need for anandtech.com altogether. In fact no one could use it if they wanted to.

Hi, Tash!
I have a computer that recently got this problem as well.
What changes I did recently was: Kick out Norton Antivirus 2005, and install Nod32 antivirus.
Do you have any of these, or installed/uninstalled any of these?

Might also be some windowsupdate I run...
Best regards, Peter

Just saw your PM, yodelking. No, I didn't have NAV. I was using AVG, but uninstalled it and installed Kaspersky. The problem went away. Anyway, thanks for the replies.

Yes, or a corrupt internet explorer.

Why are you using IE in the first place, my solution to this problem is simple: GET MOZILLA.
And if you want to run active x on your pc, MS offers a Mozilla Plugin that runs Active X.
