IEEE802.1x Authentication

I am trying to enable 802.11 authentication on a dell gx110 running win2k pro. I read on the microsoft website that I needed to update to SP4 which I did, I also enabled the wireless configuration in under services and it says the service is started, but I still do not see an Authentication tab in my Local Area connection properties

Use the client utility for the card. Wireless support in win2k is serverely lacking.

What kind of security settings are on the access point?

The client utility is likely available from the computer/card manufacturer (e.g. Dell). If it is intel wireless, then there is also an Intel driver package/set that comes with the utility. If you posted the name of the card, we could help you find a driver if you are having trouble, though support.dell.com and it's "find me my drivers" utility is really quite good.

I don't have a wireless card, it is just the wired ethernet port built into the motherboard. the way that they authenticate at my school requires you to enable the wireless configuration b/c that SHOULD make the authentication tab show up in the Local Area Connection and then I have to enable "IEEE 802.1x" and then "Protected EAP"
