IE9/IE10: back button refreshes page

I am running IE10 (and IE9 before that) under W7 64-bit Enterprise and have a strange problem: whenever I click on the back arrow, it simply refreshes the current page instead of going back to the previous one. This seems to occur on every page. If I click the back button two or more times in rapid succession then it usually behaves correctly and takes me back to the previous page, but not always.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I don't seem to have the same problem on a different computer running Vista Business 64-bit and IE9.

Right click the back button and see if there is a list of ad sites. Some are normal but if you get it all the time you may have some spyware.
