IE7 crashes on initial "runonce" screen

I just installed IE7 onto my laptop and when I start IE up it crashes on the "runonce" screen BUT if I start "Microsoft Update" which uses IE7 it runs fine. Any ideas? I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no effect.
 
This fixed it for me:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"RunOnceLastShown"=hex:40,a1,22,2a,b0,1d,c6,01
"RunOnceHasShown"=dword:00000001

Merge it to your registry and restart your system.
