IE6 shuts down randomly -> WTF?

I am managing a W98 box and I keep getting and error in IE6 a few minutes after I open it. I get an error saying there has been a problem and that IE6 will now shut down. Any information will be lost and session closed. It then gives me an option of reporting this as 'feedback' to M$ which I do and I get a screen saying it is done. Then IE6 shuts down and restarts. A few minutes later, same thing happens.

I have tried repairing IE. I have also tried unistalling and reinstalling IE. No luck.

I need a screen shot of the message window and will try to put one up tonight. Until then, anyone have any idea what in the world could be wrong?

Thanks!

This happens to me also. It's a random thing though. I'll go for a few days without a problem and then suddenly go through an evening of hell. One night when it was particularly bad I downloaded Netscape 6.1 and the latest version of Opera. I quickly discovered the same problem occuring with those browsers as well. It made me wonder if the problem lay with my cable modem provider rather than IE6.

Know of any work arounds. It doesn't affect my W2K boxes which run through the same firewall and hence the same cable hookup....

Did the same thing happen before you upgraded to IE 6.0? It might very well be that this 'upgrade' to IE 6 is responsible for this problem.

Hmm.. I would try getting back to IE 5.x. I don't see what else could cause it, actually.
