IE6 Removal

I am currently contemplating switching to Opera as my browser, and would like to know the easiest way to completely remove IE6 and all associated files and folders. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am using XP-Pro.

If I'm not mistaken, lots of other apps (not just M$) use IE for the basis for the program's GUI. Removing IE is not necessary to use another browser. Just set Opera as your default browser and you should be all set.

Agreed, no real reason to remove it, just don't use it.

Removing IE is a bad idea. As other have said, other applications use the IE engine. Much like Konqueror is part of KDE, IE is part of Windows. Removing it would make a lot of things not function correctly. Consider first off that windowsupdate.com will not function with browsers other than MSIE.

Second that. I use zonealarm and I set it to ask everytime IE wants to connect to the internet. M$ is sneaky and it wants IE to connect way too much for my confort.
