IE6 CPU Use

I'm running IE 6 with service pack 1 and all the latest updates applied. One day I noticed everything became really slow, and according to task manager IE takes up 100% of the CPU - no matter what it's doing.

I disabled active scripting and scripting of java applets and it behaves normally. This is still annoying though. Any suggestion or has anyone had the same problem? I don't feel like reinstalling right now...

I have the same problem, but with Word XP. When I open certain documents with over 35,000 words, the CPU goes to 100%, even if there is no task being done on the document. What's even strange is that on those same documents but with 34,999 words, it doesn't do it. Very weird and annoying...
