Help!!!! I've run a spyware scan, havent got any. and i ran 2 virus checks. but they both crashed with some memory dump message about writing the RAM to physical disk before rebooting. so not sure whats happening? I can load AIM and chat yo people on it. but MSN messenger wont connect. cant connect to ingdirect.com, ebay.co.uk, ebay.com, microsoft update page or MSN messenger status pages. but CAN connect to pages i've never been to before, bob.com, and david.com. google works, but some of the pages it finds dont. email downloaded from pop3. so not sure whats going on?
Any suggestions?

Also, i have a wireless micrsoft mouse. and its started to jutter round the screen. so doesnt register a click, and when you move it across the screen, it gets "stuck" sometimes til you wiggle it and it works. fresh batteries in it today, but still the same problem.
Any suggestions on this too?!

do you got another computer you can test stuff out on? I usually use the OSI model for debugging:

Start with the hardware, cabling, hubs and switches, give them all a fresh power restart and verify they are plugged in properly.

Next try the software side, ping some places and make sure you're not dropping packets. Make sure you can resolve addresses. If you can't then you will want to call your ISP and make sure they didnt change anything or add a firewall or something.

If anti virus software is crashing your computer you might want to uninstall and reinstall them, if they continue to do that you might have a virus that causes anti-virus software to crash, you're best bet might be the dreaded format and windows reinstall. Check out all of your startup folders and registry start-up locations, and your windows/temp and program files directories for suspect .exe's.

As for the mouse, when my wireless goes nuts I plug in new batteries or bring it closer to the base station. Other than that there's not much you can do about it. I've actually reverted back to wired mice (with ps2 extension cables) because I got sick of batteries and limited range.

Good luck!

ok, rang my service provider. apparently half of europe is having the same problem!!! Some things gone
down. so any sites routed through america, or at least a lot of them are failing. hence microsoft, ebay etc. So thats just a hang tight job i think

still no joy with the mouse. do people here use wired mice? i have NO problem with getting a good wired mouse!!!!
