IE Window closes abruptly

Hi all,

Just moved into University of Connecticut for the fall semester with my friend. We both have to install root certificates in order for our computers to use the internet here.

After he installed the root cert., every time he opens Internet Explorer, it loads a webpage and then abruptly closes. Mine works fine though.

Any thoughts? I don't know any other relevant info, but if you have any questions, just ask.

The first thing I would do would be to scan and remove any spyware that might be installed on his PC. If the problem persists, report back.

Thanks for the quick reply. The PC has no viruses or spyware on it.

Netscape and Firefox work fine, but the IE window keeps closing.

Anymore ideas?

try windows updating it with all of the internet explorer updates...no need to get sp2

Has he tried removing the certificate? Tools / Internet Options / Content / Certificates. Perhaps the certificate store got corrupted.

Hi,

Windows Update doesn't work because the window keeps closing. Although, I suppose we could try from the Control Panel.
