😕
After weeks of wrestling to remove a browser hi-jacking my IE security is seriously messed up.
Security is too restrictive and apparently no scripts are allowed to run. I keep getting that annoying IE information bar that prompts me to ?Allow Blocked Content?.
I think I?ve tried all the standard resolutions, but welcome any suggestions.
I even reinstalled Windows XP Service Pack 2, but that did not appear to have any effect.
I?ll describe the symptoms and what I?ve tried thus far.
First of all, I cannot click any HTML links within Outlook Express email messages.
I have to paste all links from the email message to IE. I have Outlook Express selected as my email program within IE.
The biggest issue is that the IE information bar is activating on loading of nearly every page. I suspect all ActiveX controls and Java Scripting are being blocked.
I have gone into the security tab of IE and set all options to "enable" or to the least restrictive option. It is as if these controls have no affect. I have set the internet zone back to ?default? and the information bar continues to activate.
The MS help suggested that I add sites to my ?trusted sites?, but when I select trusted site on the security tab of IE, the ?sites? button is grayed out so that I cannot add any sites or see if any sites are there.
I would love to be able to set IE back to its default/original security settings, but I cannot seem to accomplish that. Thanks for any suggestions.
