IE locks up randomly

Anyone else having random IE lockups? Due to hardware upgrades, I've have several builds of Vista and they all randomly hang?

Thoughts?

Try disabling Adobe Flash Player and see if the problem suddenly vanishes.

LoL! This happened at work today...

My boss was cussing up a storm - had 3 instances of IE running - all three locked up, of course.

I took the mouse and said, "Let's see if you have Adobe Flash Player 10 running".

His machine was sluggish as hell with the browser(s) locked up, but the CP finally came up. Sure enough, Flash Player 10 was installed, so I deleted it and BOOM - the browser(s) started responding. Then, I installed Adobe Flash Player 9 for him, and all was golden!

Heh! He just sat there all squinty-eyed with his mouth hanging wide open...

"How did you know about that?"

"What can I tell you? I'm a genius!", as I casually walked away.

Tools | Internet Options | Advanced Tab | Reset button.


I can almost guarantee you won't have any further problems.

It doesn't remove flash 10 and replace it with flash 9, though. I've done what you said a dozen times. It wasn't until I ditched 10 and went back to 9 that the random freezing finally went away. And there I was blaming my overclock. . .

It will remove flash 10 (disable it anyway) or any other offenders. You then selectively add things to determine where the problem was.

It's just a sledgehammer to get stuff stable again.

I have had this problem with Flash 10 for months and have tried almost everything.
I hope this works.
