I just want a browser that doesn't crash on me because of that stupid mshtml.dll file. Firefox and IE both crash because of it. And I have downloaded every fix I can find, and it still happens.

I got tired of IE not letting you use whatever background color you want in webpages, this is a biggie for me, I can't stand looking at white background as it hurts my eyes.

2. when u want to open multiple threads with shift and right click it opens up an entire new Mozilla instead of using tabs
3. it seems a lot slower than IE
4. the text size keeps on changing, when i open a new tab window it goes back to 100% i want it to stay at 120%
5. plugins

other than that it seems OK 🙂

Nope...when you find that I want to know (note that the response in the post above is not an answer)!

Sorry, was thinking about Firefox.

For Mozilla -- Edit > Preferences > Appearance > Fonts > Minimum font size

If you're seriously not running AV software and are connected to the internet or a network, you're stupid.

i pretty much never have av software running and probably have gotten less viruses than many that do. can't even remember the last time i got a virus

Same here. Antivirus software is a joke, it doesn't do anything for 99% of the viruses, it doesn't stop spyware, it doesn't do a damn thing for me except slow down my computer and waste memory. So I don't use it, and I haven't had a virus ever.

How would you know?

All I'm saying is that everyone here is acting as though Bin Laden is trying to break into their computer or r@pe them or something. If you keep your system up to date with security fixes, keep your virus defs updated, run a decent firewall and not do stupid sh!t you should be fine.

or you can just use FireFox 🙂.

I have been using it for over 9 months now and I love it.

Okay, maybe I have a benign virus that doesn't effect any of my files, takes up zero memory, doesn't take up space on the hard drive, and doesn't do anything negative in any way to my computer. If so, I don't really care. However, I have never had any virus with any detrimental effects on my computer.

You know, not having AV software is fine, as long as you are cautious and do some online scanning once every 2 weeks, either by Trend Micro or some other place. I used to do that.

I could not live without tabbed browsing. That alone is the main reason to ditch IE and why I will never use IE again. If you like IE, then at least get a shell for it such as MyIE2 or Avant.
Firefox's strengths lie in the ability to customize just about everything and also, their wide array of extensions. Mouse gestures are a huge time saver, as well as many other ones. Also, things like removing items from the context menu (who needs 20 commands when you right click an image???) and removing menuitems from the menubar are what makes Firefox and open source software great.
PS: Microsoft is a multi-billion corporation and what have they done to IE in terms of features? Now look at Firefox, that doesn't truly have a company, (more like a community) and look how far they've come. If .8 is this great, than I can't imagine it one year from now.

NSF4, you say you could have IE, and then install anti-virus software, run a firewall, use SpyBot every 2 weeks, don't click on suspicious links, burn incense, and sacrifice a tree frog every month.

Why not just use Firefox, and forget all that extra crap? Are you that blind?

I use IE just coz... well ... i have been doing it for so long....its default (brilliant microsoft... brilliant)

As long as it works... its just about ok. I have GoogleBar, so it livable...

OH AND THE INTERNET CACHE WORKS

as opposite to IE.......for me (dialup) MUCH FASTER surfing.....that alone is a reason to use FF over IE
(But i guess you all have broadband and have no clue that IEs cache never worked right anyway)

FF owns IE 10000 times....

Edit: if IE users would have a monitor and see what IE actually *downloads* and what it gets locally off the cache i think *some* people would be very surprised 🙂 I dont say FF is perfect although the 0.8 release is great - but its a really GOOD browsers..hands down....

Oh yeah, IE cache is absolutely useless, but if you have broadband then it actually is a benefit since you always get the latest version of webpages. Honestly I doubt IE ever reads anything from cache, and because of that I'd rather not even have cache (major cause of disk fragmentation and unecessary hard drive use on laptops that could be saving power instead). This is beside the point but I think software writers could make their software so much more power efficient by reducing HD use and actually utilizing the full 512MB RAM I have in my laptop.

As for IE vs. Firefox: The one reason why I like Firefox better is that it doesn't suffer from this stupid thing that IE does - it does not shift focus to the address bar. In IE I start typing my URL in as soon as a browser window appears, and it suddenly decides to shift focus to the beginning of the address bar as soon as my start page loads. This causes a part of my typed URL to appear at the beginning of the URL and requires me to retype the entire URL. The browser was designed to be helpful to the average user but not for users that want to do things as fast as they can. This issue first appeared in IE6. I realize that having a blank page as my start page will solve that problem, but I like having a specific start page.

Sorry double post. This coffee shop I sometimes post from has a really weird wireless router. Maybe it's time to upgrade firmware on it, but if I even said the word firmware to people here I'd bet that they'd have to pick up a dictionary. The company that manages their setup has never returned and e-mail or a call from me. I guess I have to deal with it since it's free or go to one their other locations that actually has reliable internet.
