You guys realize that those ads are what support these forums right? F'n leeches. The ads aren't even obnoxious flash ads and you still want to block them.

Yeah, I guess I'm an asshole then. What of it?

Did you restart Firebird?

I tried Firebird, and the tab browsing is convenient, but I got errors on some web pages I frequently visit, and I can't remember the last time I got an error using IE, visiting the same exact pages.

I restarted my computer (had too anyways, driver updates)

edit: works now, thanks. Weird having the PM image gone

Noob? I was on anandtech in 1999. I just happenned to get banned and finally got around to reregistering.

In any case, the ads are what is supporting the forums, and if you want to block them, so be it. I just find it lame.

If you had to reregister after being banned, you obviously shouldn't be here

I just had a difference of opinions with the mods about censorship. In any case, you obviously belong here, even though you block ads, just because you've racked up 7000+ posts in a little over a year. Yeah. Good argument.

Why don't you try defending your position of blocking ads as opposed to my being banned? Oh, that's right, you don't have a logical argument.

When I browse the forum I never usually click on the Ads. Anandtech is set to my hompage usually I click on the ads there if I see something that interests me. I don't see the point in having the ads on the forum when I never click them anyways.

If your questioning my loyalty to AT why bother? It's not like we are required to click on them. Hell, I bet if you look in the LA for the people that provide the ads, there is probably somewhere that says that "blah blah may not ask or beg for users to click on the ads".

It's not like the .07usd from me really makes a difference anyways when I am probably 1/1,000,000,000 of the total number of people who visit anandtech.

I didn't sign a contract obligating me to view ads. I'm on my computer, using my bandwidth, and if I want to block content that I do not wish to receive, I have every right to do so. I also have the right to not watch tv commercials, and to change the station if I wish. Money is paid by companies in the hope that their ads will generate interest and brand recognition, but by no means is ANY advertiser guaranteed a captive audience.

You're presenting a piss-poor argument.

I just tried Firebird for a laugh, it made my broadband connection look like 56k on pages with loads of images.

i migrated to firebird, use it 99% of the time now. only open ie for sites i don't know password for and am toolazy to look it up😛 firebird has autocomplete too, but i entered some pw's long ago😛

i use lots of windows open at once, and love the ability to open tabs quickly using ctrl click. i don't notice a speed difference, but iff there was one, it would be more then nulfied by the lack of tabs, and all the extra clicking.

Try FireBird

Firebird ~= Moz + different frontend. It really doesn't render pages faster.

TROLL :|. Go back under your bridge. The only site I notice slowness on is suprnova, (which I won't link to for banning reasons 😉) which has a HUGE table. Even other relatively large sites, like slashdot comment pages, don't feel any slower.

mmmm ... you suck at the internet.

I'm a Mozilla user, I also use IE and Netscape and.......

IMO w/broadband they're all friggin fast! Seriously, are some of you people really concerned that one browser opens up a page 1/10th of sec. faster? If anything, if you feel that your browser is slower than the other it's time to re-boot, get some more memory, cut down on the caffeine...?

I've never understood this topic?
