Hello,

you guys have been helpful in the past so I have decided to come here for help.

I got an SMC 7004AWBR today and I connected it to my Computer via CAT5 to my SIS 900 Nic. I used Port 1 on the Router. It shows activity when I try to ping it but it doesn't work.

I had to manually assign an IP since DHCP didn;'t work right?

If there is anything that I am overlooking please help.

Windows 2000 is the Operation System

I thought the default ip for those home router thingies was 192.168.100.1. Check the manual though...

I got it all fixed. It still had the settings of the guy before me. Just ran IPconfig and looked what the default Gateway was. That did it :)

He says he can ping it so I suspect he has the right IP address.

Anyways, I have the same problem. My XP desktop almost never can access 192.168.1.1, but my Mac laptop works fine, through 802.11b no less. Linksys router. The XP desktop used to be Win 2000, and I never had a problem then.

I have no problems pinging the router either. And my laptop has no problem pinging the desktop.

And internet access, MP3 serving, and networked disk access on the desktop all work fine. I just can't see the router from that machine. :disgust:
