IE blank on some pages at work

Ok I have been having some problems at work viewing some webpages. It seems to be a problem when sites dont start with www. But not all sites that don't, I can go here perfectly fine for example. An example of a site I cannot go to anymore is http://forums.ninja250.org another I came up with while searching for the issue of this problem is http://forum.maxthon.com/forum/index.php . Neither of those sites I can go to at work. The page comes up completly blank. Do you guys think this is a setting thing or what do you think? Any way you can think of fixing it? I can change settings at work but I can't install anything.

I have been noticing this problem for a while at work but I didn't care much. But my favorite forum changed urls and now I can't go to that site. So now I am on a mission to fix it!

Do they have any web filtering software, that perhaps restricts access to forums? Have you tried clearing the browsers cache and cookies? Is the browser infected with spyware?

We do have a filtering software but when something is blocked it comes up with a page saying the site is blocked. Cleared the cache and cookies too. Shouldn't be any spyware on the computer, the only thing that is installed on the computer is work related stuff so there really isn't much of a way to get the spyware, also it has McAfee on it so that *should* pick up spyware.

Interestingly enough when I go through a proxy it works just fine. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the 'forums' in front. Because two days ago the site was www.ninja250.net for the forum, then they started using a new forum software and changed the site to forums.ninja250.org. Ever since then I cannot access it. Site just comes up as a blank white page.

When I view the source of the page this is what I get

You should be able to run Hijackthis.exe, as it doesn't really "install" per se. It will tell you if you've got funky stuff going on.

Here's what I get from the source on the Ninja Forum site:

Ok I guess I will try to run that Friday. I don't have a zip program at work so I had to unzip at home and email the exe to myself. Gmail wouldnt let me send an exe file so I changed to extension to .mp3 . Should've done .txt or something else because I can't download .mp3 files :p

Have any ideas how to fix the cascade style sheets I could try today? Or does anyone wanna email me the hijackthis.exe file?

Also, would there be any reason why they would have disabled reading CSS? They are really tight on security here. I work for the City of St Paul, MN. And the whole city shares the same network. The fact that I can go to the site through a proxy just fine makes me think that maybe CSS are somehow blocked.

I have a similar problem and I started a thread over in the software forum.
Thread

It also starts with the word "forum" but that's not the problem. If I delete any part of the word "highlight" it loads fine.

Hmm, both of those sites work fine for me. And it doesn't seem to be anything with the word forum it has just never happened on sites that are in this format http://www.exampleurl.com/ . It has only happened in urls that don't start with www such as http://forums.exampleurl.com/ or http://imbroken.exampleurl.com/ .

Does anyone know of any other CSS sites that should be broken too if that is the issue?

So both of the links in my other thread work for you?? They start with the word "forum".

I work in Plymouth.

You can also ping those websites to get their IP address, then try opening them up via IP address vs the "forum.blahblah.com" route.

I beat you to that one too :p Upon pinging forum.ninja250.org I get the ip 64.235.230.140 . Which redirects me to the lunarpages site. Which just happens to be thier name server.

nstublaski Just solved my problem, I changed the proxy server address and it works now. Some time ago, most computers were getting updated with new proxy addresses. A coworker still had the old address and the link worked for him. So that may be something to look into.

To change the proxy address you would go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Lan Setting. Right? Interestingly enough there is no proxy that it is going through. I would think there would be.

Not much there that's suspect, except maybe your name servers. If there was a way to try using different DNS server IP addresses to test (if you have the rights to change those settings) it would be worth a test.

The only other thing that might have some effect is the mobsync.exe, which is IE's Offline sync application so you can view files offline instead of having to be logged on. If you can, kill that mobsync process and then clear the Temp Internet Files cache, then close/restart IE and try those sites again.

Sorry its been a while since I got back to this.

I can't find the mobsync process in the process tab from ctrl+alt+del anywhere. So I don't know why that is. But does anyone know of any browsers that I can run straight from an EXE instead of installing it? I want to try a different browser and see how that works out.

The cache is the Temperary Internet Files right? If that is what it is then I allready tried that, if the cache is something different then how do I clear it?
