Hi, in IE6 winxp pro sp1

the icon of the address bar(where u type the address) is missing. how can i make it show again?

what i mean is :

back| forward | Stop | refresh | home | search | favourite | media| history | mail | print | compose
_______________________________________________________________________
address|🙂 http://www.yahoo.com |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

between the "address" and "http://" , there should be an icon(where the happy face is). but now it is missing, how can i get it back?

thanks

I believe it only shows up only when you are currently on a valid website.. other then that, I don't know why it would be missing.. can't see why you'd care if it was there or not

faye,

Currently using the same setup and there isn't an icon. Sometimes, a website will have a mini icon associated with it, and it gets cached when you bookmark a site. I always hit Control-O when typing in a new URL. You didn't happen to install Yahoo Messenger or the Yahoo add-on junk for IE, did you? If so, that explains the smiley....

no yahoo junkies... but i do remember there is an icon there....

u talked about the mini icon... i know bluenews, sharkyextreme, Planethalflife and MSN has their icon...

that simling face is just showing where the icon is though...

no way i can get it back... ?

Try clearing the browser cache (Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Cookies and Delete Files (check the box for Delete Offline content.). Close down the browser and restart it... it shouldn't be there now.
