What is the deal with these, is there a way they can be cleared? For example after I delete all my history, cookies, etc, I still get somethings that remain, FW, My ISP Homepage, ATOT, Maxim(;P), and a few others. What's the deal with these?

Did you try deleting them manually from your registry?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer - typed urls

Tried all the suggestions, no luck yet. As for going into the registry, it doesn't list seperate websites.

And it's like that no matter what I've done(deleting history, cache, etc)

VERY easy. While the auto complete menu is open, and an address is highlighted, hit the delete button. Hit it once for each address you want to clear from the auto compete menu.

Each time you hit delete, the highlighted auto complete suggestion will be deleted.

When I select it, and hit delete, it takes away the autocomplete and leaves the link in my address bar...

Do NOT select. Hover over what you want to delete. Do NOT click on it. Hovering is enough to highlight it. Then click delete.

When I hover over it and hit delete it does nothing =/ Maybe my "delete key" is malfunctioning, different keyboard, brb

have had the same problem, and it always seemed to be with somewhat odd sites, eg one time calottery.com (the california lottery site) got stuck and didn't go away until after a reformat (no, I didn't reformat just for this problem 😀)

Oops, sorry. While that works for EVERY OTHER entry box and auto complete, it does NOT work for IE.

It works great for clearing auto completes in google and other entry website entry boxes. That's what I was thinking about.

My bad.

i have the same problem. it holds on to 4 sites, AT link, cdfreaks.com, and a couple other spam sites. very annoying. hopefully someone chimes in with a good, working response.

Boot into safe mode, and go to a command prompt. Type this in:

cd C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\History\History.IE5

now type:

del index.dat

I wish, but it's hella annoying to have a long string of websites to come up when I am trying to type in something =/ and It's not always just websites, files come up as well.
